In 2015 TYRRELLSTUDIO was engaged to design the refurbishment of Beverly Hills Girls High School. This project developed a series of large outdoor rooms for different types of gathering, learning and recreation. The materiality used draws heavily from the contrasting colours and seasonal variation in the schools existing landscape.
A large serpentine wall shifts in materiality from chalk white brick to a gradient of purple and pink glazed bricks responding to the seasonal flowers of the jacaranda trees above.
In other courtyards, black trunked trees sit in white bound aggregate and are ringed by custom designed green ring benches.
